Description
Gentamicin Sulfate is a water-soluble antibiotic originally purified from the fungus Micromonospora purpurea. Gentamicin acts by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, leading to inhibition protein synthesis and death in susceptible bacteria. Gentamicin is effective against a wide variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and is used for the prevention of bacterial contamination in cell cultures.
